Majors

Ages 11 & 12 as of May 1 ( Typically 5th, 6th and some 7th graders)

*Evaluations Required

The Majors division is where players begin to make adjustments to a more advanced game. Leading, pick off moves, balks and the dropped 3rd strike rule are all introduced at in this division. Players also begin the transition to a larger field. The pitcher's mound is 50 feet from home plate, and the bases are 70 feet apart. Coaching will continue to build upon the foundation of fundamental baseball and general athletic skills and players may also begin to find specific positions where they can succeed.

Teams will be selected via a player draft and the regular season will culminate with a single elimination playoff.

5th graders and above should register for the Majors program. Placement on a Majors team for 5th grade players who are age 11 and younger by May 1, 2021 will be based on evaluations. Any player not placed on a Majors team will be eligible to play on a Minors team.

In the Spring there are typically two games and two practices per week. In the Fall there will be two games and one practice per week. Practices are run by professional development coaches with assistance from volunteer coaches.

Games may include playing neighboring towns including Bethel and/or Redding/Easton and will be played either in Weston or those towns.

*Evaluations are required for Spring House baseball for all players in the Majors. A Spring "Travel" baseball option will be offered for players looking for an advanced and highly competitive game. Players will be selected to these teams based on their interest and evaluations. Anyone playing travel baseball will be required to play in the house league. NOTE: Attendance at evaluations is mandatory for any player interested in playing Spring Travel or Summer District baseball. NO EXCEPTIONS.
