Welcome to the Spring 2023 Weston CT Baseball Season

Our youngest divisions are broken into T-Ball, Rookie Prep and Rookie and include players that are pre-K through second grade.  The multiple tiers within this division are grade-based, providing for positive social interactions with classmates and ease of scheduling with other sports.

Our older divisions (Minors and Majors Divisions) are grade and ability based.  The grouping of players with similar ability provides for the greatest developmental environment for our players while also maximizing player safety.

*** Note that 7th graders who turn 13 on or after May 1, 2023, are eligible for Cal Ripken Baseball.

Regular Season will start, weather permitting, on Saturday, April 1st and end the weekend of June 3rd. It is a nine-week season.  Please note, there will be no games from April 8th - April 14th (Weston Spring Recess). There will be games on Saturday, April 15th, and coaches if available may elect to have optional practice over break.  Regular season for Minors and Majors divisions will end on May 20th, with playoffs will begin the following week.

T-ball introduces baseball to our youngest players in a fun and stress-free environment.  Practice / Games will run on Mondays directly after school (3:15PM – 4:30PM) at Hurlbut and Saturday mornings (11AM – 12:30PM).  Monday sessions will be run by pro D and Saturdays by parent volunteers.

Cost: $225

 --------------------------------------------------

Rookie Prep: 1st Grade

  • Games will be held on Saturday afternoons at 1PM.
  • Practices will be held Thursdays directly after school (3:15PM – 5PM) at Hurlbut and run by pro D.
The Rookie Prep division continues to focus on fun and fundamentals while taking a big step forward in real gameplay.  Coaches will handle pitching duties and provide instruction from the field, as players incorporate more aggressive base-running, 3-out innings, and real scorekeeping.

 Cost: $350

--------------------------------------------------

Rookie: 2nd Grade

  • Games will be held on Saturday afternoons at 1PM.
  • Practices will be held Wednesdays directly after school (3:15PM – 5PM) at Hurlbut and run by pro D.
The Rookie division is designed to introduce players to live pitching from fellow players.  The coaches and league will determine the correct progression to kid pitch / coach rescue.  The pitcher’s mound will be adjustable between 40 and 46 feet from home plate depending on each youth pitcher’s ability. The bases are 60 feet apart

Cost: $350

--------------------------------------------------

Minors Division: Grades 3 – 5

  • 3rd and 4th graders and 5th graders based on players evaluations.
  • Played on a 46’ / 60’ field, stealing allowed.
  • Games against Weston teams and potentially Easton / Redding based on total team numbers.
  • Games will be held on Tuesday evenings and Saturdays at 11AM.
  • There will be one practice per week on Thursdays run by parent coaches.
The Minors Division players continue building and refining their fundamental skills while they begin to understand game strategy. This Minors Division continues developing player pitching and introduced base stealing and the infield fly rule for the first time with some moderations to ensure proper game flow.  The pitcher’s mound will be 46 feet from home plate and the bases will be 60 feet apart. Teams will be selected via a player draft and the regular season will culminate in a Playoff and Championship.   Evaluations are required for Spring House baseball for all players in the Minors.  This year's evaluation date will be the afternoon of Sunday March 26th, time TBD.

Cost = $300

 --------------------------------------------------

Majors Division: Grades 5 - 7

  • 5th - 6th Graders and 7th Graders born on or after May 1, 2023.

  • Games against Weston teams and potentially Easton / Redding based on total team numbers.
  • Games will be held on Wednesday evenings and Saturdays at 9AM. §
  • There will be one practice per week on Mondays run by parent coaches.
The Majors division is where players begin to make the adjustment to a more advanced game. Leading, pick off moves, balks and the dropped 3rd strike rule are all introduced at this age. This is also when players begin their transition to a larger field. The pitcher’s mound is 50 feet from home plate, and the bases are 70 feet apart. We will continue to build upon a foundation of fundamental baseball and general athletic skills and may also begin to find specific positions where players can succeed. Evaluations are required for Spring House baseball for all players in the Majors.  This year's evaluation date will be the afternoon of Sunday March 26th, time TBD.

Cost: $350
